In 2011, Columbia Gas of Ohio completed its Riser Safety Program. In response to a request from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, crews replaced more than 317,000 natural gas risers around Ohio since the project began in 2008. The company invested approximately $145 million, about one-third less than originally forecast for the project. The program relieved impacted customers of hundreds of dollars in repair or replacement costs.
