Mark Kempic serves as Chief Transformation Officer (CTO). He is responsible for enhancing NiSource’s efforts to integrate processes and technology across the company’s seven-state footprint in order to capture the value of efficiency and best practices in a customer-focused manner. He is also responsible for leading the program management function for the central operating command of our Greater Lawrence, Mass., restoration efforts. He reports to Chief Restoration Officer Pablo Vegas.
Prior to assuming the CTO role in February 2017, Mark had served as President of Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania and Columbia Gas of Maryland since 2012. He was responsible for ensuring that the two companies provided their customers with safe, reliable, high-quality customer service and ensuring the companies’ overall profitability through coordinating business strategies, including developing and implementing regulatory strategies before public utility regulatory commissions in both states.
Mark has more than 35 years of experience in the energy industry and has served in a broad range of functions, including information technology, engineering, gas supply, corporate planning and regulatory policy.
He holds an associate’s degree in solar heating and cooling engineering from Pennsylvania State University, a bachelor’s degree in computer and information science from the University of Pittsburgh and a law degree from Capital University School of Law.
