Leader. Innovator. Dedicated partner. These are a just a few words that her nominator used to describe Hanna Balla.
Hanna Balla, emerging customer experience product manager, was recognized this week as one of Midwest Energy News’ 40 under 40 recipients. This award program recognizes leaders across the Midwest for their work in America’s transition to a clean energy economy.
Nominated by NiSource partners at Google and Nest, Hanna has played a pivotal role in transforming our industry toward a sustainable future. Not only is she helping move the company forward, she’s shaping the industry with her work supporting efficient energy use and enabling strong, engaging experiences for customers across all touchpoints. Her work has been recognized nationally when the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded the Ohio team the 2017 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award, and when they received a North American Diamond DABRE award in 2018 for the measurement and evaluation of their “Savings Matters” program.
“Hanna is an emerging clean energy leader, a world-class marketer, and a dedicated partner who is leading utility industry transformation from within toward a more sustainable future,” noted her nominator. “She is immensely deserving of this recognition.”
"We are so proud to see Hanna being recognized at this level in our industry," said Royce Workman, director, customer experience. "We've always known she is an emerging leader who is helping identify optimal ways for us to meet and exceed our customers’ current and future expectations."
“During her time in Ohio, Hanna quickly became a well-respected and innovative leader,” said Dan Creekmur, president and chief operating officer at NiSource subsidiary Columbia Gas of Ohio. “It comes as no surprise she has been recognized by the industry. She is truly deserving of this award, and I know her leadership and vision will help drive us to top-tier customer satisfaction.”
