As President and Chief Executive Officer of NiSource Inc., Lloyd Yates leads more than 7,000 employees in providing energy to nearly four million natural gas and electric customers across six states. Yates has been an active member of NiSource’s Board of Directors since 2020.

PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
With over 40 years of experience in the regulated utility industry, Yates previously served as Executive Vice President, Customer and Delivery Operations, and President, Carolinas Region for Duke Energy Corporation. He also previously served as President and CEO for Progress Energy Carolinas and held various leadership roles at PECO Energy.

BOARD AND CIVIC INVOLVEMENT
Yates plays a leadership role in the energy industry as the current Chair of the Board of Directors of the American Gas Association. He demonstrates a deep commitment to community service through his longstanding board service with community organizations, including the Salvation Army, YMCA, Trees Charlotte and local Boys and Girls Clubs. Yates is also a board member for Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc., a leading insurance broker and risk advising firm, and has served on the boards of Sonoco Products Company and American Water Works, Inc.

EDUCATION
Yates earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in business administration from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. He attended the Advanced Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School and the Executive Management Program at Harvard Business School.
