Advocating for our low-income customers

We build partnerships with organizations who champion for our customers.

We meet our customers where they are and support their life challenges – through payment assistance programs and plans. We believe all customers should be able to keep their families warm through the winter, and we partner with state and local agencies to ensure that our customers’ needs are met.

Supporting our low-income customers

We advocate for full funding of the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). LIHEAP helps some of our most vulnerable customers offset a portion of their home energy costs, but the need exceeds the program’s current funding. During the 2019 program year, NiSource customers received more than $47.6 million in LIHEAP assistance.
