Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, NiSource Inc.
Shawn Anderson serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of NiSource Inc. He has overall responsibility for NiSource’s finance and accounting organizations, corporate and subsidiary financial operations, and all supply chain and accounts payable operations.
Previously, Anderson held the role of Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy & Risk Officer. In that position, he aligned NiSource’s long-term strategy, including portfolio optimization, renewable energy, and growth strategies, with stakeholders’ priorities throughout the planning and resource allocation process. Anderson also oversaw energy supply, enterprise risk management, and insurance operations for the company with a focus on prioritizing risk mitigation solutions and driving Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”) provisions around the work the NiSource team leads every day. Prior to this role, Anderson served as Treasurer & Chief Risk Officer for NiSource.
PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
Anderson has extensive strategic planning and risk mitigation experience in the regulated utility industry. Before his roles at NiSource, he was Vice President of Regulatory and Finance for Columbia Gas of Ohio, NiSource’s largest gas business, where he was responsible for developing regulatory strategy and policy as well as financial planning, forecasting, analysis, and reporting. He also served as Director of Regulatory Strategy and Director of Regulatory Affairs for Columbia Gas of Ohio, leading regulatory initiatives on economic development, local government policy, energy assistance, energy efficiency programs, and regulatory filings.
BOARD AND CIVIC INVOLVEMENT
Anderson serves on the board of directors for the Mount Carmel Health System, which serves more than one million patients in Central Ohio annually. He is the current chair of the system’s governing board, and a former member of the board of directors for Children’s Hunger Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger in Ohio, having chaired its finance and audit committee.
EDUCATION
Anderson has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Ohio University. He completed his Six Sigma Black Belt from Xavier University and is a graduate of Leadership Columbus.
