Melanie Berman is Executive Vice President of Administration and Chief Human Resources Officer for NiSource Inc. and a member of the executive leadership team. Berman leads HR, aviation and real estate services. She is responsible for supporting corporate goals through organizational alignment, fostering employee engagement and building a culture focused on NiSource values and priorities.

PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
Berman has more than 30 years of experience in leadership roles in human resources with strong executive leadership experience. Most recently, she served as Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer at The Michaels Companies. She has also served as Vice President, Human Resources at Anthem, as well as Chief Human Resources Officer at BakerCorp. Her earlier career included multiple leadership roles in human resources, talent management and acquisition, and other corporate functions.

BOARD AND CIVIC INVOLVEMENT
Berman is an active board member for the Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD). Additionally, Melanie sits on The Ohio State University Corporate Advisory Council and is an adjunct professor at the Fisher School of Business.

EDUCATION
Berman earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from State University of New York at Albany and a Master of Science degree in industrial organizational psychology from Baruch College.
