How does the NiSource Charitable Foundation evaluate requests?
The NiSource Charitable Foundation evaluates requests on the following areas: quality, strategic potential, community impact, public benefit, and management. The foundation reserves the right to decline any request, change guidelines without notice or reduce any gift amounts in accordance with corporate budgets, program guidelines or conflict of interest with NiSource.
Which organizations are eligible for NiSource Charitable Foundation grants?
Eligible organizations must be a 501(c)3 or other non-profit as determined by the Internal Revenue Service with a focus in one or more of the NiSource Charitable Foundation's focus areas and have a direct impact in the NiSource service territory.
Is there anything that might affect grant eligibility?
The NiSource Charitable Foundation accepts applications submitted by 501(c)(3) organizations. Eligible organizations must serve the community without discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, veteran status, disability, gender, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information or any other protected group status as defined by law. Notwithstanding the preceding, organizations that offer gender-based programs or have programs and services designed to benefit a specific population will not be considered discriminatory for this reason alone.
The NiSource Charitable Foundation does not provide funding for individuals, political causes/candidates or sports sponsorships.
