Every day, our team members across NiSource’s gas operations show us what it truly means to embrace the vital responsibility of keeping people safe while delivering the reliable, affordable energy our customers rely on. On Natural Gas Utility Workers’ Day, I want to personally celebrate these talented professionals whose dedication makes a difference in our communities.
Safety isn’t just a priority at NiSource; it’s the foundation of everything we do. I’m incredibly proud of our gas workers, who operate, maintain, and enhance our systems with heartfelt dedication to protect our customers, coworkers, and the communities we serve. Whether they’re responding to emergencies, inspecting infrastructure, replacing equipment, or working through tough conditions, they embody our highest standards of care and responsibility.
That commitment delivered outstanding results in 2025. NiSource achieved the strongest OSHA safety performance in our company’s history, reflecting years of focused effort and personal accountability across our workforce. Most importantly, we completed the year with zero significant injuries or fatalities, the first time we reached that milestone. We also recorded our best DART performance since 2017, underscoring continued progress in preventing serious workplace injuries. These outcomes reflect the culture we have been intentionally building and reinforcing across NiSource, one rooted in leadership accountability, shared responsibility, and employees who look out for one another, follow disciplined work practices, and speak up to manage risk before it becomes an incident.
Reliability is built on discipline, preparation, and the dedication of thousands of NiSource employees who work tirelessly, both in the field and behind the scenes, to ensure natural gas systems run smoothly under all conditions. Their unwavering commitment helps keep homes warm, allows businesses to operate seamlessly, and keeps communities resilient when they need energy the most. By working efficiently, maintaining system integrity, and thoughtfully investing in infrastructure, our dedicated natural gas workers help keep energy affordable for families and businesses alike. This support fosters economic stability and underscores natural gas's role as a dependable, cost-effective part of today’s energy landscape.
